Waterlilly
Poppy medallion for my northern regalia.

This barrette incorporates the colors of my Seminole regalia (white,
black, turquoise, and grey)
with the animals from the heraldic shield of my father's family, the Conlons. The turtle represents fortitude, persistence, and invulnerability. The bird, though it looks like a swan, is called "a pelican in its piety". This comes from the belief that in times of famine, pelicans fed their young with blood from their breasts. It represents self sacrifice |
